| | Ingrid was born in Austria, and trained there as a textile designer. She gained an MA in painting and tapestry weaving at the College for Applied Art in Vienna. She then worked as a freelance painter and tapestry weaver, participating in joint exhibitions, as well as holding her own solo exhibitions. After a period of extended travel, she lived for several years in the USA. She moved to England in 1988, and settled in south Devon, where she established a handcraft company, Handmade Furniture and Textiles, with her husband Chris Parker. From their joint textile studio and furniture workshop, they supply woven carpets, tapestries, and individually designed furniture to private clients. Ingrid works mainly with natural materials, often hand-spinning the yarn from the locally acquired fleece of sheep and alpacas. She then either hand-dyes the spun yarn before weaving, or leaves it in its natural colours. The weaving is done on a traditional loom, using either a linen or cotton warp. | | |
